Went to see the above on Tuesday. Brilliant. I would recommend it to anyone - effects, acting, production, everything all first rate. Then again I am no theatre critic and I like all sorts of strange things - Including folk music!!!

Music content - the dwarf who sings most (Balin I think) has a fabulous voice. Quite high for a male voice and, I think, higher than tenor. Would it be Alto in a male voice or is that reserved for females? Perhaps none of the usual rules apply to dwarves?

Yes, there are male alto voices, and higher again would be called counter-tenor, not often heard outside renaissance and sacred music.

The Palace - opened on Tues. Dunno when it is on till. Suitable for Children but scary at times - and sad at the end. But if they have read it they know that:-)

I've just checked with the Palace Theatre, they have tickets for Friday and Saturday night (£7.00 to £15.00 but watch out for credit card surcharges of £1.85 ea PLUS a collection fee of £1.50). The bad news is that it's only on until Saturday.

My daughter (9yo) saw it today and should be home from there in the next couple of hours. I'll find out how she enjoyed it when she gets back.

From Emma; (Aged 9, Just back from the show) I liked the hobbit, especially the bit with the spider! Golum is my favourite charactor.He looked exactly as I had imagined him to be. The music was good, and the special effects were brilliant!

Emma, the show information says it might be too frightening for children under the age of 9. It's not too scary for 9-year olds, then? Catherine (aged 9) wants to know... (Well, really, it's me who wants to know- in case I'm scared....)

Intermediate, John- Adult £9, child £7. Strange how that adds up to more than £30 for me and two kids isn't it!? Added extras, for the privilege of booking...!

I'm going to the box office when they open in the morning. Looks like it's a family & friends outing. I was really annoyed at the booking fee of £1.85 EACH, but absolutely airborne at the £1.50 COLLECTION FEE! See you tomorrow, I hope. John
