Subject: Pat Cooksey C.D. Words. From: GUEST,Jim Barnes. Date: 11 Mar 04 - 09:41 PM After hearing so much about this guy I ordered his C.D. from C.D. Baby, I've had it for two days now, and played it over and over again. Not only does it include his classic songs The Sick Note, and The Reason I left Mullingar, but other self penned numbers I never heard before, the stand out tracks for me are both his own compositions Mary Anne, a song about a young Irish girl who died from a drug overdose, and Song for Hamish, a tribute to his friend the great Scottish singer Hamish Imlach, the album is simplicity itself, just voice and guitar, but boy can he sing, he also does a wonderful version of the classic Raglan Road, highly recommended. |

Subject: RE: Pat Cooksey C.D. Words. From: alanabit Date: 12 Mar 04 - 02:14 AM I really liked the Raglan Road as well. I don't know if he changed the name for "Mary Anne", but we buskers come across lots of material for songs like that. I don't think Pat Cooksy needs to go busking now though! I agree with you that it's a fine album. I play it often. |

Subject: RE: Pat Cooksey C.D. Words. From: GUEST,Pat Cooksey. Date: 12 Mar 04 - 09:23 PM Thanks for the kind comments, I'm personally not too happy with this C.D. although people seem to like it. I will be in England for the next two weeks working on a new C.D. with Sean Cannon, we will be in studio in Barnsley for a couple of days, so if there are any sessions in this area perhaps we will come along for a few songs. I don'y know the exact dates yet, but perhaps someone could give us a general idea of whats on. All the best, Pat. |
