Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: SINSULL Date: 16 Jun 09 - 09:48 PM Damn! That was poor planning on our part. Any chance you guys can head down to South Portland afterwards and join the fun? There is always room. Song Circle looks small which is fine. Jacqui is doing lasagne. I will make garlic bread and a huge salad. How about some fruit and cheese, Tom? I will see what is on sale and maybe add meatballs to the feast. I have some Pepsi in for Tami. SO some beer and wine and Maeve's pie...anyone else? |

Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: catspaw49 Date: 26 Jun 09 - 09:34 PM When are you planning the day where you sit around watching "Charlie's Angels" and "Thriller" back to back, compare the importance of "Billie Jean" versus "Barbara Allen," and then analyze the cultural significance of of a dude wearing one white glove and singing "Beat It?" I'd like to attend that one.................... Spaw |

Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: SINSULL Date: 27 Jun 09 - 11:13 AM Watch here, Guy. There may be something that weekend if Giok arrives. Then Jed Marum in early August and I am taking the rest of the summer OFF> |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: curmudgeon Date: 27 Jun 09 - 11:57 AM Most sad to say that Linn and I will be unable to join the illustrious company tonight after all. An exceptionally vicious onslaught of allergies have left my sinuses stuffed and my voice on holiday. Dr. gave me expensive nasal spray and advice to avoid talking. I could not maintain a vow of silence were I to be with you good people; it was difficult at last night's session with some not-so-good people. Have a great time, sing one for us. See you at the John Roberts HC - Tom & Linn |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: SINSULL Date: 27 Jun 09 - 12:53 PM So sorry, Tom. But you have my sympathy - this has been a vicious year for allergies. All that rain. You're absolutely sure that Linn isn't trying to avoid her birthday presents???? LOL You'll be missed. Mary |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: maeve Date: 27 Jun 09 - 01:58 PM I'm making the pie, but I am very tired and I've hurt my wrist shifting logs. There's a chance I won't be able to get there safely. I'll try. Feel better, Tom. maeve |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: SINSULL Date: 27 Jun 09 - 02:02 PM Maeve - do what is safe. And don't force it and then not be able to enjoy yourself. I suspect there is someone there who might be able to eat that pie. I guess Jacqui and I will just have to drink this champagne (Yup! Shaw's did the half price thing and I got it for $25 from 50+)all by ourselves. It doesn't keep well, you know. And Jacqui is driving so I will have to limit her consumption... |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: gnu Date: 27 Jun 09 - 02:14 PM She has consumption? |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: maeve Date: 27 Jun 09 - 02:41 PM I hate to not go, but it clearly wouldn't be wise. I'm very disappointed to miss singing with you lot. I particularly need singing and good company this week. Enjoy the music and the friends who can make it tonight. maeve |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: Bat Goddess Date: 27 Jun 09 - 04:02 PM Champagne!!! And GOOD stuff, too! And I won't be able to bring the stuffed squirrel for possible identification from the knowledgeable company as well. (I KNOW the birthday gifts are probably unescapable.) Besides the soaker hose for Maeve, the insulated coffee pot (so the first pot of Sunday morning's coffee can be kept warm while a second pot is immediately set to brew) and the book (Monsignor Quixote) is also in the car. Well, they'll all keep until July 11th, I suppose. Tom and I will also grab today to celebrate our wedding anniversary (yesterday -- 27 years), since otherwise it wouldn't have been celebrated because of commitments until Wednesday. We usually celebrate with a bottle of champagne -- but this year it sure won't be a 50 buck bottle! Linn |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: SINSULL Date: 27 Jun 09 - 04:54 PM This is turning into the Song Circle from Hell. I just opened the champagne and neither Jacqui nor I could drink it. It was organic but that shouldn't affect the flavor - made chills run up and down my spine. So it went down the drain and we opened some cheap Chardonney. |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: gnu Date: 27 Jun 09 - 04:58 PM Congrats Lynn and Tom! |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: maeve Date: 27 Jun 09 - 05:12 PM Yes, Linn and Tom. Have a most happy anniversary celebration! maeve |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: gnu Date: 27 Jun 09 - 05:23 PM Yeah, right... it's gone just that fast and youse don't want anybody to know. I hope youse don't get TOO organicized ce soir and fete Lynn and Tom well. Char down! |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: ranger1 Date: 27 Jun 09 - 05:33 PM So this means I'd better show up then, doesn't it? |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: Bat Goddess Date: 27 Jun 09 - 05:55 PM Tom's napping...being grumpy about not having a voice is exhausting. I just came in from yanking weeds in the flower beds (what's left of them after several years of neglect) up and down the driveway. Some of 'em were bigger than the plants that were SUPPOSED to be there! Still need to get up on the bank of the rockery and work down from there. I'm sweaty, caked with dirt (but it's nice garden dirt!), I've prolly just washed off all the bug stuff, and I could start another garden with the dirt under my nails. Sigh. Haven't come near to touching the beds, etc. out back. At least it's not raining... Now I'm going back out with the spray cleaner and a handful of paper towels and clean the rain gunge and residue off the table on the deck. THEN I'm gonna mix myself a Campari and soda and maybe relax a bit (while looking around and feeling guilty about all the yard work that still needs to be done; sigh). Oh, and I better find the anniversary card that I haven't written out yet (or rubberstamped) and the bottle of Flag Hill (the local winery) Marechal Foch I picked up for Tom. Linn |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: SINSULL Date: 27 Jun 09 - 06:03 PM No Tami. All the more lasagna for me. |

Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: Jeri Date: 28 Jun 09 - 12:21 AM Surprisingly, the mosquitoes are all biting other people this year. Lot's of mud, and I'm a wimp, but otherwise, it's fine here in Altamont/Albany. I hope y'all are having fun. (The free breakfast buffet had cheesy eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, fruit and other stuff--WHOO-HOO!) |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: maeve Date: 28 Jun 09 - 09:19 AM Good morning, Song Circle-ites. Give Sinsull her coffee! maeve |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: SINSULL Date: 28 Jun 09 - 12:17 PM SINSULL got to sleep in and make her own coffee - no overnight guests if you don't count Seamus. We had a lovely evening that ended early but included a great meal and some wonderful music. Charlie passed around a preliminary copy of a book he is readying for publishing - and it is not all sea music! LOL He and Judy started a Tramp theme that took off led to a Barbara Allen medley and what else??? Nice, simple, fun evening. Made up for the crappy champagne. |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: Micca Date: 28 Jun 09 - 01:04 PM Mary what did I tell you....... "life is too short to.... 1 Stuff mushrooms 2................ 3 Drink cheap (or crap) Wine!!!!!" |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: Charley Noble Date: 28 Jun 09 - 01:11 PM Sinsull- It really was a nice relaxing evening, and excellent food! Loved your Appalachian Barbara Allen, which provoked Lady Margaret from me. It was Jacqui, wasn't it, who began the "tramp medley" with Tramp on the Street? I also led Evening Shadows Fall, inspired by my Ethiopia revisit. The closest song to nautical was when JudyB led Port o' Dreams. She also led History Man by Les Barker. And Jacqui led The Sun is Burning. We didn't do any Michael Jackson songs. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: Leadfingers Date: 28 Jun 09 - 02:53 PM I was out yesterday and got home Knackered , otherwise I MAY just have made a Rood Phone call ! Glad it went well ! |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: SINSULL Date: 28 Jun 09 - 09:48 PM Micca, I foolishly took your advice re: cheap wine and bought (at half price) a $50 bottle of champagne. I should have bought the cheap stuff. This wasn't Brut; it was Brutal. I swear to you, aside from the two - three sips taken to taste it, it went down the drain. I sang Tramp On the Street. What started the Tramp theme? |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's June 27 From: jacqui.c Date: 29 Jun 09 - 06:24 AM Charley started the tramp theme with the C Fox Smith song about the tramp. I followed with Room For The Poor. |
