Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival From: GUEST,Ken Hall Date: 05 Sep 06 - 05:03 PM First met Frank at the National folk music festival some years ago.He made an immediate impression. He remains something of a hero to both myself and my wife Peta Webb. We were lucky to persuade Frank who was a most reluctant traveller to do our Musical Traditions club in London twice. He came back to the house and we saw in the dawn sharing songs an unforgettable experience. A great man. Peta and I will be in Dublin for the weekend. I think the plan is to make it an annual event. At the time of his death Frank had just completed his latest project. Songs of the navvies should be coming out soon but sadly does not look as though will be available in time for the special weekend. |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival From: MartinRyan Date: 05 Sep 06 - 05:08 PM Ken I hear you're both coming to Clarinbridge also! Regards |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival From: Fergie Date: 05 Sep 06 - 05:54 PM Hi Ken If you need tickets for the Concert in the Teacher's Club you had better contact Gerry O'Reilly of Luke Cheevers pronto. They are limited to 200 and they are going like hotcakes, very soon they will be hotter than a ticket to the All Ireland Football Final. Looking forward to seeing you and hearing you and Peta again, your rendition of the plough song (I will go with my father a ploughing) is superb. I first heard you sing it in Ennistimon. it made the hair on the back of my neck standup, brilliant. Fergus Russell |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival From: MartinRyan Date: 05 Sep 06 - 06:28 PM Fergie Got mine organised OK. Regards |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival From: GUEST,Jerry O'Reilly Date: 06 Sep 06 - 03:16 PM Yes it's true, tickets are at a premium (not literally),but the hall only holds 200. You're ok Ken I've two tickets put by for yourself and Peta. See you both then |

There's a website listed at www.clarinbridgeartsfestival.ie - but it appears to be down at the moment. Regards |

Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival From: MartinRyan Date: 07 Sep 06 - 08:34 AM Apologies! I had completely the wrong dates in my head - thought it was at the end of October. Regards |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival From: Fergie Date: 08 Sep 06 - 11:51 AM Latest Guest List for Saturday night concert is:- Rosie Stewart - Fermanagh, John Kennedy - Antrim, Eamon O Broithe - Galway, Len Graham - Armagh, Roisin Elsafty - Connemara, Four Star Trio - Cork. Fergus |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival From: MartinRyan Date: 08 Sep 06 - 04:54 PM Not wishing to confuse things any further BUT: the online program for Clarinbridge doesn't match with the fliers they've been distributing lately. In particular, the singing session appears to be in Sherry's Bar in the village - rather than Moran's of the Weir. Regards p.s. That said, if anyone finds themselves lost in Moran's on the night, order a seafood platter and a pint of guinness and relax! Then head back to the village for the singing, which is likely to run late, methinks! |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival From: MartinRyan Date: 09 Sep 06 - 11:22 AM Just came across a file version of Mick Maloney's tribute to Frank, broadcast on Irish Radio a few months ago: Click here. Again, there's some extraneous material at the start. Regards |

A big thanks to Jerry and Ann and all who were involved, for the trojan work done they did to organising such a successful, fantastic and most enjoyable festival of song, story, friendship and craic. It was an education in itself. Fergus |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival From: MartinRyan Date: 28 Sep 06 - 07:51 AM "The Rolling Wave" programme on Irish radio, has a few songs from the festival in the programme from Sept 27 (yesterday). They were recorded at the final session on Sunday afternoon, in Tom Mayes pub in Dublin, Home of the Goilin Singers CLub. Click here I can't check the file from this computer but it should be OK. BTW, the rumble of traffic that features in the background is because if we closed the windows to the busy street, we baked in the heat! Not a common problem in late September Dublin. Regards |
Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival From: GUEST,diarmuid Date: 28 Sep 06 - 08:03 AM An tú féin atá ann, a Fheirguis? Diarmuid |

Subject: RE: Frank Harte Festival From: GUEST,Pat Burke Date: 30 Sep 06 - 05:30 AM Martin, I finally tracked down the Rolling Wave Programme this morning Sat 30 Sept 2006. I've saved it with the latest one which featured a number of the singers from last weekend. Ony 20 at the Goilín last night.....what a contrast, but a very enjoyable night nonetheless. No problems geetting a song in either, as we were crying out for a few extra singers! - Pat |
